Stage 3

From Kranichfeld via Bad Berka to Weimar

The romantic castle of Tannroda awaits you at the first kilometers. From the top of that old keep, you can enjoy the view into the valley of the Ilm. Further the asphalted cycling path runs parallel to the Ilm. Looking forward to some refreshable spots along the river. When you arrived in the spa town Bad Berka, you can take a dip in the Kneipp pool at the "Goethe" Fountain to recharge your batteries for the next stretch. Pass through picturesque villages such as Hetschburg, Buchfart and Oettern. Via the Ilm-Park you will reach the city center of Weimar which is famous for their UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We recommended to discover that classical city during a longer stay.
By the way!
Weimar is reprensented on the UNESCO World Heritage list with 3 entries: The "Classical Weimar", the "Bauhaus" epoch with its sites in Weimar, Dessau and Bernau" and Goethe's Manuscripts in the UNESCO "Memory of the World".
