Stage 2
From Ilmenau to Kranichfeld
Due to sewer work, the Ilmtal cycle path between Kranichfeld and Stedten is expected to be fully closed until the end of May 2024. The signposted diversion will be via the L 3087 state road, which will be speed-limited to 70 km/h during the diversion phase.
On this stage you cycle through the Schortetal along the river shore of the Ilm to Langewiesen and Gräfinau-Angstedt. Get in touch with the history of mining in this region and visit the exhibition mine "Volle Rose". Follow the route via Stadtilm, Kleinhettstedt and Dienstedt directly to the 2-castle town of Kranichfeld. At the end of the day, you will have pockets full of great impressions and regional specialties from the farm stores along the route, such as those in Singen, Kleinhettstedt and Stedten.

Kranichfeld is close to a small lake in Hohenfelden, only 4 kilometre. The area around that lake offers a lot of adventure such as a climbing forest, archery, boat and sup rental, the adventure spa "Avenida-Therme" , the Thuringian open-air museum and a camping site, situated directly on the lake. For a relaxing end of the day, you can enjoy fantastic sunsets and cocktails. Enjoy the good life!
