Tips for families

For small and large adventurer

Are you ready for an adventure? Have a cycle tour with your family from Ilmenau to Weimar and become a naturalist or a speleologist, a princess or a knight, a beekeeper or bird tamper, build a dam or watch the beavers at work - there are a lot of discoveries on the Ilmtal-Radweg! Just past Ilmenau, there is an exhibition mine "Volle Rose", which you can discover by a small train or visit the ostrich farm in Kleinhettstedt. Close to Dienstedt you can explore a bat karst cave and afterwards as well the water mill in Stedten, which is 400-year-old. There is an aquarium of the river Ilm, where you can watch its fish habitat. Visit the castle "Niederburg" in Kranichfeld and have a live flight demonstration by a falconer. If you want to reach the sky, you have to climp on the old keep at the castle in Tannroda. Before you will reach Bad Berka, you can have a break at Henriettenhof in Munich with a small animal farm and farm shop. This former manor house is situated just 1 kilometer off the cycling path in direction to Bad Berka. Arrived in Weimar you can discover the sweet life of bees in that german bee museum or you can go on a backpack discovery tour in the Ilm-Park.
