Stage 5
From Eberstedt via Bad Sulza to the mouth in Grossheringen
At the end of the tour there is enough time to relax and enjoy. After starting the 5th stage, you will reach the city center of Thuringian health and wine region Bad Sulza. With its gently rolling hills, the region is also affectionately known as the "Tuscany of the East". Here it´s all about brine and wine. Try the health-promoting brine in the pump hall in the spa garden or in the graduation resort "Louise". The Ilmtal cycle path ends in Großheringen, where the mounth is of the river Ilm into the river Saale. Enjoy a glass of the delicious Thuringian wine from the regional wineries with a great panorama of the vineyards. It´s up to you to return by train, to continue on the Saale Cycle Path or to refresh at the Toskana Therme Bad Sulza.

Auerstedt kennst Du sicher als einen von zwei Schauplätzen bei der Doppelschlacht Jena und Auerstedt 1806 zwischen Napoleons Truppen und den Preußen. Über einen gut ausgebauten Radweg ab Bad Sulza sind es nur 4 km bis dorthin. Eine Gedenktafel aus Sandstein und noch zwei der ehemals vier „Napoleonslinden“ erinnern daran. In dem ehemaligen Rittergut, welches als Hauptquartier genutzt wurde, befindet sich heute das Hotel Resort Schloss Auerstedt und bietet vielfältige Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten wie Apartments, Ferienhäuser und Hotelzimmer. Die Küche verzaubert mit Gerichten aus regionalen, frischen Zutaten.
