Tips for sporty people

For nature lovers and sports enthusiats

Do you like to have a sporty challenge during your cycling tour? Then you can enjoy the Ilmtal-Radweg in the opposite direction. From Großheringen up to Allzunah you will have a steady increase. The last 15 kilometre, from Ilmenau to Allzunah, you have to pass 270 metres of altitude. There are some opportunities for challenges surrounded by the beautiful nature of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: Who will be the first on the top of the Thuringian Forest? After a cycling sprint, the Freibachtal valley invites you to take a rest or relaxing picnic right next to the source of the river Ilm. In Stützerbach, a climatic health resort, you can refresh your calves of cycling at the Kneipp pool before tackling the last steeply section up to the Rennsteig mountain range. And if you don´t get enough of cycling, than you can change the track to the big mountain cycling circuit of the Thuringian Forest, starting from Allzunah. The route of 43 kilometre is classified as difficult and doesn't stop at any terrain.
